We’re Investing in You: The Next Steps for Maxwell Custom Beef Producers

At Maxwell Custom Beef, our goal has always been simple: be the most reliable processing partner for cattle producers who are serious about selling high-quality freezer beef.

We don’t believe in shortcuts. We believe in doing things the right way - even when it takes more time, more effort, and more investment.

As we continue growing, we’re making several improvements designed to help our producers sell more beef, deliver a better product to their customers, and keep building strong brands around their cattle.

Quality Still Comes First

One thing will never change: we will always prioritize quality over speed.

Every beef processed through Maxwell Custom Beef will continue to be dry aged 17–21 days, with the option for producers to extend aging up to 28 days.

That extra time matters. Longer dry aging allows natural enzymes to break down muscle fibers, creating:

  • More tender beef

  • Deeper beef flavor

  • A noticeably better eating experience

Your customers may not always know the science behind it, but they absolutely taste the difference.

And that difference is what keeps them buying from you year after year.

Upgrading Our Packaging

We’re also investing in equipment that improves the finished product your customers take home.

We are currently looking to upgrade our cryovac machine so we can offer entire orders packaged in cryovac, not just steaks.

This means:

  • Longer freezer life

  • Better product protection

  • A cleaner, more professional look for every order

When your customer opens their freezer, the product should look just as premium as the beef tastes.

That said, freezer paper wrapping isn’t going anywhere. We know many families still prefer it, and we value the customers who have supported this plant for years - long before Maxwell Custom Beef, back when it was Amend Packing Company.

Freezer paper has been trusted for generations for a reason. When wrapped correctly, it provides:

  • Excellent freezer protection by keeping air away from the meat

  • Easy labeling and organization in the freezer

  • Convenient portioning, allowing families to grab exactly what they need for dinner

For many customers, opening a freezer full of properly wrapped freezer beef in butcher paper is simply part of the tradition of buying local beef.

As we expand our packaging options, our goal isn’t to replace what works - it’s to give producers and their customers more choices, while still honoring the practices that have served this community well for years.

A Better Look for Maxwell Black Label

Another upgrade we’re excited about is improving our Maxwell Black Label boxes.

These boxes are often the first impression customers get when they pick up their beef, and we want them to instantly recognize they’re receiving a premium product.

Our updated boxes will focus on:

  • Stronger visual appeal

  • A high-end presentation

  • Reinforcing that this beef was processed with time, care, and attention to detail

Because when your customer sees quality, they expect quality - and that expectation helps justify premium pricing.

More Cooler Space = More Opportunity

As our cooler space expands, we’ll have the ability to process more cattle while maintaining the same level of care we’ve built our reputation on.

That means more opportunity for the producers we already work with.

If you have the ability to increase your beef share sales, we would greatly appreciate it.

Specifically, we’re encouraging producers to continue promoting:

  • 1/8 beef shares

  • 1/4 beef shares

  • 1/2 beef shares

  • Whole beef shares

Selling beef this way keeps your inventory simple and allows you to focus on what matters most - raising great cattle and building relationships with your customers.

We’re a Processing Partner, Not Just a Locker

From the beginning, Maxwell Custom Beef was built to be more than a place that simply processes cattle.

Our mission is to be a growth partner for producers who want to build real freezer-beef businesses.

That means:

  • Clear communication

  • Careful cattle handling

  • Thoughtful cut sheet processes

  • Premium aging

  • Professional packaging

Everything we do is designed to help your beef stand out in the market.

Looking Ahead

We’re excited about the direction we’re heading and grateful to work with producers who care about quality as much as we do.

Thank you for trusting Maxwell Custom Beef with your cattle and your customers.

We look forward to processing many more cattle together and helping you sell more beef shares in the years ahead.
